Keiko's name comes from the the Orca/Killer Whale that plays Willy in the movie trilogy Free Willy. We called her Keiko for a number of reasons - first off because Orca's are black and white. When we first brought Keiko home her and I watched Free Willy 3 together. I also liked it because I love Orca's and because Orca's are often seen around Vancouver Island (I kinda wanted to name her something releated to here). Also after going through thousands of names and spending 3 weeks at it (2 before we got her and 1 after we got it) it was the first name my boyfriend and I both liked. I also liked it because it was unique but not too unique. I wanted the perfect name for her and I feel Keiko is more then perfect.
